Training for new officials
If you are new to boys lacrosse officiating, this page will show you how to become a USA Lacrosse certified official and start working games for roughly $40 per hour. If you are a returning official, see the Training for returning officials page.
We use a combination of in-person, Zoom, and on-field training to develop our officials. See below to select the correct training for you, then download the training guide and start getting ready for the spring season!
I am at least 13 now and will not turn 18 before the end of June
You should complete Level 1 Training this year (note that if you are 13, you can enroll in and complete most of the training, but you cannot do your on-field training or work games until you turn 14).
It consists of some US Lacrosse online training, classroom/Zoom training, an on-field training session, and rules tests. Please see the Level 1 Training Guide for details.

If you have not previously completed Level 1 Training, you should complete Level 1+2 training this year, which will prepare you to start working youth games but will also allow you to move up to high school level games when you are ready. It consists of some US Lacrosse online training, some classroom/Zoom training, an on-field training session, and rules tests. Please see the Level 1+2 Training Guide for details.
